Getting to know Said Mourad……

A generous family man with a lovely and unforgettable smile, calm features and good sense of humor… This is how we would describe our first contact with Said Mourad! In the beginning, we didn't find any problems integrating in his house as he demonstrated an amazing and a generous lifestyle… We shouldn't forget (Tant Mona) who was a real sweet heart J For almost 4 hours, we have talked and discussed many issues with Said Mourad. His passion for art, how it all started, his favorite painters, his educational background and his unforgettable memories with Mourad family in Mansheya.

So, get ready for the ride ;)

To start with, Said Mourad's passion for art was not something he attained during his adolescences period. On the contrary, his love and interest for art, drawing and specially sculpture came into being since he was just a young boy.

Ever since he learned his first moves in drawing, he would receive a lot of credit for his potential talent. Saad Mourad , his sister Hoda Mourad ( popular artist as well) and later on his wife, were the main family members who encouraged Said Mourad to continue in his most loved profession and that is art!

Deciding to pursue his passion and to make it a lifetime career, he started his first series steps towards that goal by entering faculty of Art- Architecture section to graduate as the first in his school in year 1965 with a well recognized project.

Talking about his artistic style and which school he belongs to, Said Mourad highlighted that his drawings and paintings belong to the (ÇáæÇÞÚíÉ ÇáÊÃËíÑíÉ ) school. The main feature of this school is to draw with fewer lines and represent the inner reaction and impression of the artist when observing a special scene even if the image reflected does not match with reality 100%.

A major change in Said Mourad's journey was the shift from water colors to drawing with a sharp knife and painting with oil colors. This remarkable change took place in the 1980s where he started to take part in various national galleries and exhibitions.

We were really amazed by how he could draw with a knife and produce a real master piece every time he sits by his chair and paint…. A true talent and a remarkable gift he possesses!

In most of his paintings, you will find him influenced by nature. You could easily tell that whoever painted those images are a real nature lover!

The Nile, old Islamic Cairo, colorful flowers, the sea and other delightful aspects of our nature are greatly portrayed in all of Said Mourad's paintings.

Hussein El Banan, Ahmed Sabri and Mahmoud Said are among the most favorite painters for Said Mourad.

After participating in various galleries & well known exhibitions and having a solid career in architecture as well, Said Mourad has definitely earned the respect and appreciation by many people in his field. He's a true artist with a lot more to give……

Thank You Said Mourad
